WHO European Ministerial Conference on Health Systems
Mary Robinson delivered a keynote address at the first European Ministerial Conference on Health Systems. "With ageing populations and the increasing burden of disease, we know that demand for health workers will increase, meaning emigration trends are likely to persist," said Mary Robinson. "What is crucial now is for European countries to adopt an ethical approach to their health-worker needs and thereby reduce the negative impacts of migration on health systems in developing countries,"

Climate Justice on agenda of Global Humanitarian Forum Annual Meeting 2008
The Global Humanitarian Forum held its first Annual Meeting 2008 on 24–25 June in Geneva, Switzerland. In solidarity with the world’s most vulnerable, the aim is to place climate justice high on the agenda as the guiding principle in the international response to climate change and as the basis for any future global climate agreement. As a member of the Global Humanitarian Forum's Board, Mary Robinson moderated a discussion on how climate change has already affected people's lives.

2008 Civicus World Assembly
More than a thousand delegates representing groups and organisations from over 150 countries came together for the 8th CIVICUS World Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland from 18 - 21 June 2008. The World Assembly is the primary venue where civil society, donors, government, business and media - traditionally unconnected sectors - convene to act collaboratively towards the strengthening of civic space.
