How can we best address the challenges raised by health worker migration?
What are our shared responsibilities as individuals, countries and as a global community to support a Code of Practice?
On 31 March 2008 at 1500 GMT these questions were addressed in an 8-country video-conference
hosted by Realizing Rights, the World Health Organization and the Global Health Workforce Alliance.
Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative would like to add your voice, your experience, views, successes and challenges to
enrich the policy dialogue addressing the issue of Health Worker Migration.
Chaired by Mary Robinson, this worldwide virtual discussion will contribute and assist in the development of a Global Code of Practice for Heath Worker Migration.
This is an opportunity for you to inform policy and practice by:
- SHARING experiences on best practices, challenges, success stories and
lessons learned with local, regional and international colleagues
- ENHANCING knowledge while participating in a process of collaborative
learning to improve policy and practice
- PARTICIPATING through emails in our on-line virtual discussion forums to share
your experiences, raise questions, seek answers and collectively use our
knowledge and experience to assist in the development of a Global Code of
Practice for Health Worker Migration
- DISCUSSING policy and programmatic issues to share our experience, develop
new knowledge, find solutions to our challenges and build innovations
